.........BEFORE the E3 is announced. With the likely cost of the new lenses, I personally will want to see what the new top pro body has to offer before spending £000s. A straight YES or NO, will you buy or wait for news on the E3?

I will probably buy the 35-100 F2 when it arrives, because it will be a very useful lens for me. But I will have to know what the next body will bring before I invest any further. I am invested to the tune of about $10,000 in the E-system now. The next body better be good, and I\'m sure it will be.

I really, want the 3 new lenses. (Lets guess $10000 for all 3) Anyhow, I am a alittle hesitant, I would really like IS so I may wait on the 35-100. Which is a shame.

No, I will wait until after the E-1 replacement is announced. I want to see what the features of the new body are so I will know which to purchase first. If the new body does not have compelling features, then I will go ahead and plan to purchase the new pro lenses to use with my existing E-1. However, if the new body has much lower noise at high ISO and in-body image stabilization, then I\'ll purchase it first.

And don\'t forget the new Panasonic 4/3rds body that will also be announced at PMA 2006. If it is way better than any of Olympus\' offerings, then I\'ll give it a serious look.

Either way, I plan to purchase the new lenses (all three). I\'m committed to the 4/3rds system. It\'s just a matter of whether or not I\'ll budget for the new body first.

I already have a good selection of ZD lenses:

14-54mm f2.8-3.5 zoom
50mm f2.0 macro prime
50-200mm f2.8-3.5 zoom
150mm f2.0 prime
EC-14 teleconverter

So I\'m pretty well covered except for a super wide-angle lens (which I need the least).

I have the 50-200 f2.8-3.5

The way I see it, the 90-250 would be great, but given that it doesnt have much more zoom than the 50-200, and the 50-200 is already a pretty good lens, I imagine the cost of the 90-250 will immediately put me off as an upgrade option, and as other users have said, I\'m also waiting for some indication on whether IS is going to be on next body before I go for anything larger than 200mm (400mm equiv).

No. I won\'t buy the new zooms no matter what the new E is like. I don\'t need the fast zooms. If I need speed I will use the OM prime lenses I already have.
thanks

when they are in the same price range as the canon 24-70/2.8L and the 70-200/2.8L - and i have the money - i probalby will buy them once. in spite of any new olympus/panasonic body. i surely can use that extra 1/1.5 stop on my e-1 too.

I won\'t buy the fast zooms *at this point* because I am so happy with the 14-54, the 50-200 and the 50mm. The only other lens I really desire is the 11-22 and since I don\'t do ALOT of wide stuff, I am content to wait.

If I were really wealthy and money were no issue.......

Not at this time. I had a choice of the 50-200 or studio lighting. Went for the lighting, since I already have the 14-54 to use. Would possibly consider the 50mm or even the new 35mm in the future as a prime.

5 megapixels and manual control with a decent lightmeter is really enough for me. I don\'t need the high-iso that is lacking in the E-1.

The 35-100 will be one helluva lens I think. It will crush the competitors 70-200/2.8 alternatives even without IS. I don\'t think IS really makes that mutch of a difference at 200mm unless you are doing concert photography.

The price will have to be in the £1500 range for the 35-100 and NO MORE.

No. I\'m reasonably happy with my current lens collection (just missing the 8mm), so I\'m more interested at the moment in the new body.

I\'d say all of my current lenses will be up to scratch with say a 10MP sensor, so it\'s not going to be a case of lack of lens quality.

Truth be known, I\'m more than happy with the E1 and it\'s going to remain as part of my kit, even if I do get the new body (most likely will). I think in time, the E1 will be recognised for what it is and will become a classic.

Cheers

I will definitely wait for the E-3 to see whether justify to invest that much $ on the E-1.

I\'m going to.... wait till I get a steady job before I buy that f2 zoom... and an E-3... Sometimes, trying to make it in the world as a freelance writer sucks.
