I just thought of something..
has there ever been a comparison between color calibrators aka spiders?

there\'s so much hoopla about calibration, but I am sure there is a lot of variety between those tools.. which means calibration would mean diddle-dee-dum if you look at it from that point of view..

who says my macbeth thingamawhatsit gives the same results as another make?
is there any ISO standard for this actually?? and even if so.. there\'s probably a variance as well..

hmmm... interesting.. anyone who wants to donate a couple of monitors and some calibrators? :D

(of course, usually you have your whole workflow at your dismissal.. up to the printing.. but if you think about file exchange... thats a different ballgame...)

Hi MarcoF,

I believe the reason why you don\'t see these kinds of comparisons is because it takes some very sophisticated and expensive equipment to measure these measurement systems and determine just how accurate they are.

The best that most could do would be a relative comparison. But it would be difficult to determine which calibration system is more accurate.

Well I have a color chart and a McBeth color chart... I think something could be worked out. If any one in the USA wants them to do the comparison and write up, I would send them to him/her.... I know I don\'t have time. I promised a articlle on Studio this month to a guy.

Yes, take a look at this site (http://www.drycreekphoto.com/Learn/monitor_calibration_tools.htm).

Cheers,

I use a monaco ez system for my mac and it works great. For best results you\'ll need a scanner too. I first do my monitor then scanner then paper.

Works swell but don\'t forget to allow for proper drying time if using ink jet.
