If you have used one, please give your opinion regarding Haoda Fu screen on your E-1! Haoda Fu does make screens for other DSLR beside the canons (he told me so)...
Does it have any ill effect on the meter?
Here is where one can buy the screen.

Don\'t know about that one, but some on DPReview have mentioned the Katz Eye:

I have a Katz Eye split prism focusing screen in my E-1 and I love it. It works extremely well and I highly recommend it. I have no experience with the Haoda Fu screen but have seen it mentioned at DPReview as Mike mentioned.

Do you use the original or plus, or Hi-lux? What F stop does it get dark?

I\'m waiting on my Katz Eye, should be here soon. It\'ll be a plain matte with four grid lines and the Hi-Lux treatment.

I read in some post that the Haoda wasn\'t as well made.

Cheers

My Katz Eye (KE) has both the Hi-Lux treatment and the Plus split prism. My old film SLR was a Pentax ME Super which had an outstanding viewfinder with a split prism. The KE screen way outperforms it in terms of not getting dark as quickly. It is bright enough to see through at f22!!!! Of course, with such a small aperture, I did have to play with the orientation of the camera to get the light to strike the prisms at just the right angle so that both were transparent at the same time. It is amazing how bright they are.

But here\'s the greater surprise: I\'ve learned, that it doesn\'t make the split prism any more useful at such a high f-stop. The reason is that the higher the f-stop, the smaller the discontinuity across the prisms. By the time you\'re up to f8.0 the discontinuity is so small that it is difficult to tell when you\'ve exactly lined up the spit image because the images are so close most of the time. You have to put the lens way out of focus to see much of a separation at higher f-stops.

And there\'s another thing to consider which we\'ve been discussing on the DPReview forum. E-1 owners like me with KE screens with both the Hi-Lux treatment and Plus split prism are having overexposure with autoexposure (AE) in both ESP and center-weighted modes. It ranges from +1 to +2 EV. KE users with only the Hi-Lux treatment and KE users with only the Plus split prism seem to have normal AE. As far as I\'m concerned this problem is easily outweighed by the benefits. After all, I shoot most of the time in Manual mode. But I may switch to a KE screen with only Hi-Lux in the future since the benefits of the brighter Plus split prism are not very useful in light of the above.

I think that Rachael Katz will investigate further but she\'s in the process of moving her optics lab to another state and it may be a few weeks before she\'s in operation again.

The Katz is significantly more expensive than the Haoda. The Haoda screens worked well with the canons so I\'d like to know more about the Haoda screens. Anyone???
