In front of our house there is a small cotoneaster and there is a lot of activity there lately. I tried the Ex-25 + 40-150 combo again. The models just would not sit still for a second or two but I managed to get a few acceptable shots. (most of the time they showed me their behinds   ) Apart from that they just did their job peacefully. They are not aggressive at all.

It's amazing that you were able to get any shots at all! The depth of field is so small when using the extension tube that it normally takes quite a bit of time to get the image in focus and that must be doubly difficult with moving subjects.

yes, we need to figure out a way to get these models to stop hiding their heads and showing only their behinds....

but at least honey bees are a little more co-operative than bumble bees!

Thanks, Bob. The advantage of using the ex-25 in combination with a zoom lens is that you can focus with the zoom ring which is more responsive and faster to adjust than the focus ring.

Thanks, Doreen. It is still a bit early and it has not been warm enough to see some activity by honey bees here. I am looking forward to take some shots of them.
