Interesting action well captured Luke. I've never seen this played competitively before. Judging by the lack of blur and the good light summer has arrived for you as it has for me!

Nice action shots, Luc. Colorful and sharp, too.

When I read the title, I assumed they would be on roller blades instead of regular roller skates. I didn't know you could buy roller skates anymore!

Nice shots. I was a little surprised you used aperture priority, but then I never argue with success and these were successful.

Thanks, Tony. The weather started to get better yesterday.
They were shot "wide open" but depending on the focal length it did not give me the OOF I had hoped for for the background. Overall I am not complaining though.

Thanks, Windsprite. Speed contests are on roller blades but for as far as I know hockey is still played on regular roller skates.

Thanks, Bob. I used aperture priority, wide open, to get the fastest possible shutter speeds.
For sports you can of course set a fast shutter speed and let the camera calculate the aperture, which may give you more DOF. I tried to get a softer background but wide open on the 40-150 is not open enough apparently.

These are cool Luke. It seems funny to see them wearing soccer brand uniforms though !!! I wonder if you folks over there can get the Stanley Cup final series over there ?? I am sure these lads would like to watch. It should not conflict to much with the World Cup !!!

Thanks for the comment, Garry.
We have lots of channels on tv but I have not seen much hockey on any yet.
Hockey is not a very popular sport in our countries. I know the Dutch have some field hockey teams and every country has some (that is not many) ice hockey teams. If my mother in law did not live by a square with a roller hockey field I would probably not have known it exists. These shots were taken on the first day of a three day "international" competition. If you check the background you will notice that only a few people come to watch.
I guess this sounds a bit strange to you as I know the sport is very popular in Canada and the USA. Most popular sports here are football, which you call soccer, cycling and tennis since we have a few very good ladies in the game.

Hi Luc, you have a nice series there. I noticed some difference in length (and age) between the kids, and did i see a girl in the blue team?
Never heard of the game being played here in Holland.

Thanks, Henk.
There are indeed some girls that participate.
I do not know about the age groups, maybe it is difficult to get complete teams of the same age.

There is a website of the club here http://www.kmodernscw.be/ - only in Dutch (no problem for you, I just mention it for the others.) I see a team from Zaandam in the Netherlands mentioned too.
