I read and viewed a turorial on Radiant Vista (http://www.radiantvista.com/video_tutorials/)this morning regarding high contrast B&W images and thought I'd have a go at it. I learned a lot...
I'm also impressed with the 14-45's ability to capture detail.
Thanks for looking.

Yes, I remember this shot in colour and the colours were great. But this is an exception rendition. I especially like what it has done to the sky. It seems real appropriate given the subject matter.
I wish I had time to learn how to do some of these things. I think a couple of my Lower Fort Garry shots would be spectacular with this kind of treatment.
Well done !
I like what you've done there Bill. The subject and the original colours suit this treatment. It reminds me of the effct I could get when I used a red filter on a sunny day on an OM1 filled with Ilford FP4 black and white film.

Garry,
I completely agree.
I wish that I had unlimited time to devote to this "hobby" but, alas, I need to make a living.
Thanks for your comments.

Ahh! Ilford B&W films. I absolutely loved them.
This image was derived from the red channel, interestingly, as it appears to create the same effect as using a red filter.
Most of my previous B&Ws used an Orange filter effect. I like this better.
Good job, Bill.
I often buy a magazine about digital photography and at least once a year they publish a special dedicated to b/w conversion only. Just to illustrate there is more to it than a few clicks.
You surely did a good job here.
