Being lazy, it didn't take me too long to figure out that if I could just crop shots from the 8mm Fisheye, they would look like panoramic shots, without all the WB/Focus/Exposure fiddling I always forget (possibly lazy and stupid). Initial attempts were thwarted by PSE4's reluctance to crop 8mm images, must be some kind of distortion avoidance thing, but ultimately I found the answer by using the Marquee tool to crop, followed by the "crop" function under the Images tab. Any way that leads to a good result is a good way.
And it is not wrong to take the easy way.

I agree with Luke, only the result matters. Personally, I like to crop some of my shots to that aspect ratio too. It's especially nice for sunrises/sunsets (as your pictures suggest).

Have fun,

Ed & Luc, thanks for the encouragement. As long as I'm learning stuff, I might try relearning: 1. Use a tripod! 2. Shoot RAW in difficult light (like sunrise)! And so on. Still trying to figure out what has happened to my crop tool, which now acts as if someone poured molasses into it--very sluggish and will not accomodate me in length/breadth cropping, while the Marquee tool works as it always has. I thought it might be related to just the 8mm, but just recently I learned that it doesn't want to crop any images. Guess I'll have to try Adobe's help page (!).
