Here are a few shots I took around town today using the e1 and 18-180 with a circular polarizer. Other than reducing and a little cropping on a couple of them, they're pretty much as-shot.

I really like the shot of the hopper/silos with the circular scalloped tops Roger. It's very striking. You've created a good composition out of the visually interesting parts of the structures. I think that is a location that can be mined for more photographs, particularly by getting in closer and using parts of the metalwork! Your shot's absolutely fine as it is, but my personal preference would have been for more contrast to emphasise the folded metal.

Thanks, Tony. I can always use all the help I can get. Here's the same shot heavier on the contrast, and in looking through the images I shot yesterday, I found one of the horse I think I like better than the first one I posted...

Interesting photos; love the horse. Have heard of shaggy dogs but not shaggy horses.

Thanks, Bill. I believe they're known as Shetland ponies. I'm not a horse person, so if I'm wrong feel free to correct me. I know there's also a breed of miniature horse that's something completely different.
Tony, I'm at work on my HP laptop and in looking at my original photos, realize that there is a significant difference between the LCD display on this laptop and my Gateway 20" LCD at home. The original photo had lovely deep contrast, black blacks, and bright highlights on the Gateway monitor. On this one, it almost looks monochrome and is VERY flat. I pumped the contrast up on the second shot to the point that it was almost unappealing with a loss of detail on the Gateway, and on this one it looks like the first one does on the Gateway at home. What a difference!:blink:

I'm no techie as far as photography goes Roger - I come to it from a fine art background - but I have found, like you, that if you don't calibrate your display(s), and where you're using two, make sure they correspond, then it creates problems. I've also discovered (I use laptop and a CRT monitor with a desktop) that you have to check the settings periodically because they can "drift" a bit. Your re-post certainly looks better on my display.
Regards, Tony
