Here are a few snaps I did with the E1 in Chicago on December 27th, 2006. I thought they were interesting. They are all straight shots, handheld, without any PP other than resizing. Feel free to comment...

The first is the entrance to the Adler Planetarium.

The second is the Chicago skyline at sunset from the Planetarium steps.

The third is a sculpture on the lawn of the Planetarium.

The fourth is an actual mummy on display in the Field Museum. It's particularly interesting because the shaft of light on the head and shoulders is coming through the floor of a courtyard above. It is part of the permanent exhibit on Ancient Egypt, and lies in a crypt that has actual hieroglyphs from a 5,000 year old tomb as part of the exhibit. The exhibit uses all three levels of the Field and represents an entire tomb from the period. It is laid out as a tomb raider would have seen it for the first time.

The fifth is a Haida totem pole in the Great Hall at the Field Museum.

And the last is a street shot under Chicago's Elevated Railway.

Very cool shots. I like them all. The perspective on the Totem is very good. Not a tourist type snap at all but very well crafted.

I do think, though, that just a taste of PP could put most of these over the top !!! It doesn't take much on an E1.

Nice collection, my vote goes to the totem too. Thanks for the tour.

Interesting shots. Well done for handheld shooting.
They are very clean for 800 ISO. The totem is my favorite too, followed by the elevated railway.

Garry, Henk, and Luc,

Thanks! They could probably all stand to be tweaked a little, but I'm in a time crunch with too much going on, and frankly don't have the time to spend on them right now. I thought they were kind of fun, and interesting enough to share though.

All nicely composed and exposed shots. I can see why everybody would vote for the totem pole. Looking at the thumbnails I thought I liked the spiral sculpture better, but enlarged, the totem pole edges it out.

Thanks, Julie. Frankly, I think I like the Totem best also... but I really like the shot of the El as well. The mummy is just a tad soft from camera movement. The shutter speed was something outrageously slow, and I was pretty sure I was going to pass out from lack of oxygen before the second curtain closed...
