These are Grecian Foxgloves, a little different than the usual varieties. Don't know what species the little green spider is, but he seemed pretty satisfied with his perch. E-330 and 50-200@200, 1/10s f/11.0, iso200. Got smart and used the tripod this time. Fairly aggressive crop. For size comparison, the blossom openings are not quite large enough to stick a unsharpened pencil in. C&C always welcome.

Nate: Very nice. It took me a while to catch the spider, he blends in well. Very unusual flower too.

Interesting variety, Nate and well captured. The tight framing works fine.

Thanks, Peter and Luc. They're one of my favorite flowers, and give a nice contrast to the more colorful day lillies and such.

The next critter that drops in for a sip of nectar is going to have a big surprise! That shot is about as close as you can get with the 50-200, I think. What a great and versatile lens.

Thanks, Tony. Yes, that was right at minimum focusing distance. Wish now I'd have thrown the 500D on as well for comparison. Exposure was tricky though, with the slanting afternoon sun on the left side, and the right side almost in shade. Maybe I'll do that yet, but no doubt the spider will be nowhere to be found. To tell you the truth, I never even saw him through the viewfinder. Wasn't until I uploaded and started to develop that I spotted him!

Good job! You made old spidy a star, not just another green guy from Andromeda.
