I like your B&W conversion here. Lots of details. Only thing is that the composition looks a bit static.

Bill,
I like the conversion and PP in this quite well. Would like to reach the point your at in b&w conversion some day.
Nice shot.

Hi Bill. Something about this comes up short for me. Since the subject is mundane, I want to see something interesting in the texture, lighting, composition, et. al., but it's not quite there for me.
The bristles look interesting, but I want a closer look at them, or maybe different lighting to accentuate them. How about a different crop, keeping the upper left 75%? Put the broom handle on the right one-third line, and what is left of the broom head on the top one-third. Might serve to accentuate the bristles and make the comp a little less symetrical.
I dunno. My opinion, possible rubbish, yada yada...

Excellent conversion, Bill. Unfortunately the subject is ruined for me, because when I look at it all I can see is those stupid "Swiffer" TV commercials with Mr. Mop and Mr. Broom. Not your fault.

Thanks everyone for commenting.
The composition is very static and I agree with all the comments. This was a boredom photo in addition to testing DOF characteristics of the ZD 50 @ f/2.
