Sigma 50-150mm II EX DC f2.8 for Four Thirds?Posted 08-24-2008 at 03:27 AM by DavidCal
This is my first post on this site so hope I manage to get it all together. I have 3 Oly bodies, an E-1, E-300 and an E-510 + a reasonable collection of lenses, although by far not yet complete! In fact it is a particular lens currently unavailable to 4/3 users that I draw attention to here; I refer specifically to the new SIGMA 50-150 f2.8 II EX DC. While stated to be designed for APS-C sensors it would clearly be compatible for our size sensor just as the SIGMA 10-20mm f4-5.6, now available in Four Thirds mount, proved to be. The 50-150 looks to be an awesome lens: Internal zooming and focusing and a constant fast 2.8 aperture. With an FOV factor of 2x that would give us a 100-300mm f2.8! I emailed SIGMA recently about the chances of this optic being made available in 4/3 mount to which they replied that they had no current plans to do so. Perhaps if enough of us expressed interest they might re-evaluate their position? I am just wondering if others might also be interested in this...
