Tony,

If you have a minute to share some thoughts today I'd love to hear your impressions of the accessory finder and the new pancake, especially with respect auto focus in quicker grab shot situations.

Thank you for your review/preview, in all it is a very exciting time for 4/3rds users!

Best,

Joe

This is great!Tony if you can I'd love to see real world ISO 1600 and 3200 samples, preferably indoors or at least not in bright light. Thanks!

Tony, is the 14-42 another standard grade or is it up with the mid-tier? If standard, can you learn anything from Olympus about their plans for a mid-tier camera and lenses? Will the next µ in Sept or so have a viewfinder of any sort?

Thanks for keeping us up to speed on what's happening. You're a Godsend to us on the forum Tony. I really appreciate what you have done and continue to do for us.

At f/3.5-5.6 and for only $50 for the lens if you buy the kit, the new 14-42mm is a standard grade lens.

It does have an add-on viewfinder for the 17mm lens, but not the 14-42mm lens. I'm wondering if a 3rd party is going to make a small LCD that fits in the hot-shoe and connects up to the live view output port would give you a viewfinder-like experience for shooting in bright sun.

I wasn't able to get anything to upload today, I was in a fairy and on Coney Island but I am working on uploading pictures and videos on the very slow hotel internet... So soon I promise. I do have a few photos now in the site. I am stealing a camera so I will post more stock shots on Thursday since I fly home tomorrow.
Getting from Ventura to NYC is a lot of work for me, so I am doing what I can.
ISO 1600+ shots will be from my hotel room tonight. But those will be slow to upload so don't expect them till thursday.
Remember I am posting firmware 1.0 shots, so this should be what you get from the camera. Overall I do plan on getting a E-P1 It isn't a SLR but it also isn't a p&s. It is a very cool Pen.

Ok I will put more up later, but here are some thoughts -

The gallery finally has some pictures, I couldn't get anything to upload yesterday, so this morning I have finally gotten uploads to work.

I am going to start to wonder back to JFK, and then fly home, and then tomorrow, I will upload more pictures, and it will be a bit more uniform.
I did have the camera in raw most of yesterday, so I have to edit the photos right now with Studio. So that will slow down the process a bit.

Thanks for posting these. The ISO 1600 weren't as miraculous as I thought they were from the dpreview samples (as is always the case) but not bad.

Here is a video I didn't take, but I thought was cool -
http://43photo.smugmug.com/gallery/8...878_dxV3Z-A-LB
All in the gallery is beginning to fill up, I have a few hundred shots I took in RAW, but I need to load the new version of Studio to process them. So today I will work on that. I also am going to try and post the playback off the camera today, which is really cool.

Tony, why don't you wear the grey Tee shirt and carry the Olympus backpack?

The little backpack for the E-P1 is very cool, but I had my laptop in my lowepro bag, and spent all the downtime I could trying to upload pictures, but I just couldn't find enough downtime to wait for pictures to upload. (And my sprint card was slow / no signal in the random places I was located)
As for the grey shirt vs my bright green 4/3photo shirt. They didn't have any in XXLT - (I'm 6'7" so I need tall sizes) So I didn't want my belly to hang out. (I think they gave me a Large one, which I am no where near in size )

Really for nearly all intents and purposes this camera behaves like a SLR. The AF system is slightly slower than a SLR and no viewfinder but camera doesn't have any noticeable lag with shutter speeds.
Here in this series, I had the pale and light Art filter, and in that 2 second period it took the whole series.
