Four Thirds - Adaptors
Here is an article on Four Thirds Adaptors that is worth reading. I have left it as a PDF for portability -

I agree also a good place to check for adapters is at
http://www.fotodiox.com/catalog/inde...cPath=21_29_31
I purchased one from them a couple weeks ago through Amazon and I am very pleased with the build quality and performance.

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
Hi,
I purchased a couple of m42 to 4/3 adapters that are supposed to focus to infinity. I just have one lens, a Vivitar Series 1 135/2.3 but it doesn't seem to focus to infinity. Am I correct in assuming that the adapter is not allowing the lens to sit close enough to the sensor?
If so, is there anyone out there that has a m42 adapter that does allow infinity focus that could possibly measure the thickness so that I can compare it with what I have?
I could thin my adapter down a bit I suppose.

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
colemancol,
I've measured four M42-4/3 adapters, flange-to-flange. They're 6.75mm, 6.8mm, 6.85mm, and 6.9mm.
Cheers,
Alec

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
Hi,
I recently bought one of the "Dandelion" adaptors, iaw the ones with AF confirmation.
They are not cheap, a fully integrated M42 costs 79€ but they are a charm.
You can buy the chip and do some work on your original adaptor but I was too lazy.
I got a nice Russian pancake 50mm f3.5 that is as short as the 25mm pancake from Oly.
The link to the Dandelion chip is

Have fun,
Mike

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
After watching the Olympus promo videos on their website,
considering that they have introduced three pen cameras already
considering that the female model points out that the camera does not have to be big to take a great picture
your point and she mentions this in the video, that the Pen can use one of many lenses with the adaptor
I suspect this is the path that Olympus is going, hard to see the rationale for another big mirror equipped DSLR, yes I have seen the articles here in which Oly denies that but
now they have unique product that can use nikon canon oly lenses, and nikon and canon are not selling this product, this may finally be a way for Oly to tap into those markets
Is the next logical development a Pen with a separate viewfinder built into the camera rather than as an accessory, that would be my guess

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
Looks like Cowy07 is no longer in business. I cannot find them via search by seller.

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
I have an unused chipped M42 adapter (Chinese made) which anyone can have, perhaps in exchange for a few rolls of film.

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
The adapter I use is 0.263-0.265" thickness (varies slightly around the ring) that's 6.7mm in funny measurement. It actually gives past infinity focus so I should think up to 7mm is OK.

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
In short yes - you can stack the adapters. The range of mFT adapters is improving though so do a search before buying a 4/3 version.

Re: Four Thirds - Adaptors
Then is it worth it to use double adapters for the old OM1 35mm and 55mm lenses? What kind of results should I expect? ie: will they no become 70mm and 110mm in the GH1 respectively? And would I lose speed?
