Does anyone have one for the E500.....and what do they think..???

I'm hoping to be able to use it for long exposures and for external flash. Not being able to use a shutter release is a bugger. The camera allows me 8 minutes of exposure time but no way to control it. And to use the time delay (2-12 secs) when I'm on a tripod isn't very good either.

Please chime in and offer your thoughts and or expertise.

Ken

I definitely could use one of these on my 420 for environmental portrait sessions. A question - does the version for the 420 have a shutter release built in like the version for the 520? It didn't say on the Gadget Infinity web page. Thanks in advance.

Yes it has an extra shutter release button.
Its really a good unit.
See the latest magazine for more info if you haven't downloaded it yet.

The battery door snaps off easily and then it is stored in a place designed for it on the vertical grip.

There is a certain way the battery door comes off ,so look at it carefully before you add the Owner user grip. cheers Pete

I think you have to order from ebay or gadget infinity. I don't really know where else to get them.

OK, thanks!
I searshed at the Gadget Infinity website and I found the old one for the E500, which I have, and the new one for the E510 and E520.
But I think I might want to call them on monday to ask if they also have the new one for the E500.

I think that the new one should work for the E-500.

Hi All

I am very interested in the new grip but have the E-500. Has anyone actually tried or has confirmation that this grip is compatible with the E-500 camera?

I just noticed mine is the same. The left hand shutter release never turns off no matter what position the switch is in. I probably never would have noticed it. I have taken lots of pictures since putting it on and never triggered the shutter by accident with the left hand release.

I just got an email back from Gadget Infinity. They told me the new version is currently NOT compatible with the E-500 and only with the 510 or 520.

Do the grips have strap lugs? I don't see them in the pictures.

Yes, they have a strap lug on the bottom on each side. I have an Olympus Grip Strap on mine. The Grip Strap didn't have enough slack at the top so I connected it to the top E520 lug by a small key ring.

I've been looking at it online, and am puzzled about the shutter button and the control wheel.

Do I understand correctly that there are two shutter release buttons on the grip, which would mean a total of three (including the one on the camera? but what about the control wheel?

Usually, I use my left hand only for support and for changing zoom, and operate everything else with my right hand, most importantly my thumb on the control wheel. This is no different when I turn the camera by 90 degrees (either way) for shooting vertically.

On the first picture on http://www.ownuser.com.tw/e_E510_use1.htm , the photographer appears to be using the grip for left hand support only,
and she still uses the control wheel and shutter button on the camera itself. On the second picture on that page,
sh uses her right hand for zoom, her left hand is on the shutter release - but she has no access to her control wheel.

So - how do you shoot vertically with the grip?
