As most DIY ringflashes are not very handy to work with and as you do not want to be seen with such a construction, I was looking for an affordable solution. I found a camera dealer who had some (2) Sunblitz digimacro 6000i ringflashes for the incredible price of 71 euros (each). I was fully aware of the fact that such a cheap flash could not be compared to other models that start at about 330 to 700 euros. But as I only occasionally shoot macro I got me one. . . . It would not fire at all . . . when I tried to take a photo. When I switched it off, it fired (discharged) . . .
So I went back to try the second one. That one would fire from time to time . . . so no ringflash

.
Now to my construction. I think the photo's do not require any explanation. It is not perfect for all conditions but it works. I tried something similar with two flashes but as the second (old one) would only fire at full power, aperture 22 was often not small enough for shooting close objects. It also got to heavy and difficult to handle.
So beware of ultra cheap gear and be creative.
It is very possible that this construction has been used before but I still wanted to share it with you.
