    Default E-5 & E-PL 2, E-P3 firmware upgrade

Today Olympus announces the release of new firmware for the E-5, E-P3, E-PL3, E-PM1 and E-PL2 that stabilizes operation when using SDXC cards larger than 48 GB and, for the E-PL3 and E-PM1, improves external flash operation in RC mode.

    Here are the updates:

    >> Firmware Version 1.3 for the E-PL3 and E-PM1

    >> Firmware Version 1.3 for the E-PL2, E-P3 and E-5

There are two options for updating the firmware:

    1) Simply launch the included Olympus camera software and connect the camera via USB cable to an internet connected computer. Choose the Update function from the Camera menu in the software to apply available updates for camera bodies, lenses and accessories.

    2) Download the software updater from the following link:
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...ds_updater.asp and follow the installer instructions.

With each method, users can choose to display information related to what the update will apply, prior to performing the update.

The ability to update the firmware of Olympus digital camera components, bodies, lenses, accessories, and take advantage of some of the latest technologies is one of the key advantages of Olympusí 100% digital design.

On my E-P3, when I plug it into my computer, the monitor shows: Storage, MTP, print, and exit. When I try to install the update, the computer says "unable to detect the camera".
    What am I doing wrong?

Software on the computer, can't remember exact details but you need to update your software or change to Olympus updater. Google it and you will find the correct solution

On your E-P3, select "Storage." After this, the updater s/w should be able to detect the camera via the cable.

Just bought an E-PL3 and updated the firmware using the included software. It updated to version 1.4. I had selected "storage" on the camera as indicated above.
    Olympus E-PL3, 14-42mm kit lens and M 40-150 R (But I want more)

The Oly Studio II and Oly Master would not perform the update. I had to upload the Olympus Camera Updater software to perform this task.
