Hello every one, I have just registered to Four Thirds Photo

I am an old timer, I started photo in 1965 with a
Pentax SV 3-M camera (metal, mechanical, manual).
Later, I switched to Canon F-1 cameras (old and new), then to Leica (M
and R series).

In 2003, I took the jump to digital with an Olympus E-1, and I loved it.
In several respects, the E-1 feels like a Leica, and some ZD
lenses are in the Leica class by their resolution and contrast
(macro 50 and 50-200).

My Olympus gear consists of two E-1 bodies, four lenses (11-22, 14-54,
macro 50 and 50-200), one HLD-2 battery holder, and flashes (FL-50,
FL-36, RF-11 and TF-22).

I also use a Nikon LS-4000-ED 35mm film scanner.

You can see some of my photos (and computer-generated images) on
www.pbase.com/jimcb (http://www.pbase.com/jimcb).

I live in France, 25 km west of Paris.

Cheers!

Welcome to the site. I am glad you are here.
I love the 50-200mm. But if you like that, look at the 150mm. That is probably the sharpest most compact telephoto lens I have ever sceen. (But of course I don't own it, I am fat and lazy and own the 90-250, and 35-100)
But all of the lenses are superb.

Hi Jim

Great galleries especially the b&w images and favourites galleries. The computer generated images are also fascinating, I'll have to look into the programs you mentioned on the galleries.

I look forward to seeing some more.

Welcome Jim.
Great pics in the gallery.
I may have to play with fractals again, it's been quite a few years since last time...

Welcome on board. I'll check out your photos at a later occasion. F1 was a great camera. Used to have an EF ages ago. I've been using olympus the last 24 years though.

Cheers

Hi jimcb, welcome, like you I used the M6 & R6.2 cameras and lenses and as you say they are excellent, I found the Olympus 4/3rds cameras and lenses do a superb job.
In my earlier years I spent a lot of time flying from Essex UK to LeTourquet,
and doing a lot of photography in LeTorquet & Paris.
This is a great site, enjoy.

Welcome, jimcb! I'm following the opposite track to you:I have an E-1 but am aspiring to Leica rangefinders - one day, perhaps when they go digital and I get a proper job, I'll get one...

Love your black and white gallery, btw - esp. cat in a tunnel.

Good to see another old timer. More simpathy for us with poorer and poorer eyesight ;)
