Hello All,

Well, I hope that this forum experience is generally a good one. The "other place" has become a bit tiresome for the kinds of things that I like to read about and discuss.

I also just joined another forum to discuss my other passion -- bicycling -- so here I am a newbie in two places. :)

Thanks.

Cleave

(P.S. And since this forum has spell check, Adam-T has no more excuses. :D )

Hi Cleave, my husband was an avid mountain biker and a sometimes road biker. He used to ride his bike from Columbia SC to Charleston just because.

I think I am going to dust off my mtn bike and for no other reason than to get my dog in shape for racing. Won't hurt me a bit either!

Hi Julie,

Personally, I think cycling and photography are highly compatible. It isn't that hard to bring a camera with you on a ride and you see so many more interesting things while riding (vs. driving).

I would think on a bike, you would want to look at the 18mm-180mm lens or what ever it is. That would give you great coverage, it may be slow (need lots of light) at telephoto end, but you would at least have it in a small package.

Hi Tony,

Depending on where and how I am riding, I carry anything from a 2MP P&S up to a full Lowepro Mini Trekker with most of my lenses. If I am going light, I carry the E-1 with the 14-54mm and sometimes the 1.4TC. The 18-180mm is intriguing but it overlaps so many of my other lenses I have not considered purchasing it.
