View Full Version : Renegade Contest!

Listen up folks! I've got a one time photo contest in mind. It's even got prizes! It's one time ... because these are the only prizes I have :)
It got inspired by the fact that these two items have gone unused for a while and the fact that a contest may be fun. I've been really impressed by the caliber of photos posted here so this should add a bit of a new dimension and I hope it can be worthwhile as well as fun.

So here are the rules. I am putting up these random categories in a poll. I was thinking we can have a vote on what the theme for this contest is to be so I will keep this poll up untill Sunday. Then the most popular phrase will be our photographic theme.
We get two weeks to post and try out ideas. Feel free to post several shots or several takes on one shot - whatever and get feedback in this critique forum. Then once you have the "One" you want to go with ... post that version of the shot in the photo section rather than The critique section and make sure that you post it with the theme in the title. Only one final submission per contestant. If you change your mind simply remove the first one. The other part is it needs to be a shot that is new - only shot withing the two weeks that the contest is going on. So the exif data has to be included. Also I think we need to keep the size between 400 and 600 pixels along the longer edge.

Then at the conclusion of the contest run I and a secret, select team of judges will chose between five and ten finalists. The first consideration will be how well the picture fits the theme and then the artistic merit and emotional impact of the shot.

Those finalist photos will then be put to a five day vote to determine the first and second place prize winners. Of course the main prize is the prestige that is to be claimed but I will send a second prize to the winner and runner up. Winner gets a free sandisk 512 compact flash card and second place a UV filter. I've got several sizes you can chose from ...but can't remember what they are right now

Sound good? Let the poll begin! :D

Does anyone feel that the time frame is too short? I mean two weeks to shoot edit, fuss over and select ... may be too short. Should we make this a March contest?

I think it's a great idea. Thank you for putting this up for everyone to participate int. I don't think it's too long. Will the filters fit on the E system lenses?
