My short review of the Compact Drive PD70x (http://fourthirdsphoto.com/content/view/44/34/).

Overall it doesn't look as nice as some of the other drives, but I like this product a lot. The AA last a long time. The only thing is, I get a charging error when I try to use is as a charger.

I also bought one a month ago, cost USD230.- with a 80Gb Samsung hard drive, it has its operating system inside, so it can format over 32Gb hard drive by itself to FAT32.
Copying 1 Gb is around 1 min 10 secs if Jpeg, for RAW files it will be slower ... around 1 min 30 secs, thought its about cluster sizes ....
Robust, fast and simple to use.
And note that a higher rpm hard drive doesn't help the speed, but a bigger cache can help a lot (copy from compactdrive manual)

Happy shooting all 4/3ers :D

I've had one of these for about a year. Overall, I like it a lot. It does a good job backing up your images so you don't have to buy/carry lots of extra memory cards. Great for events when you shoot a lot and latest firmware includes an update that performs data verification.

Pros:
Simple to use
Fast backups
data verification
fairly compact and easy to carry

Cons:
does not work well as a charger
sometimes flaky operation with rechargeables that don't have a full charge
Battery door build quality is not very good IMO

Tip: carry spare batteries
