:)

I'd like to announce a change in the monthly contest. It's a small one but should, I think have a big positive impact on the monthly contest.

Due to being overextended with commitments I have found it necessary to limit my time at not just this forum but most photographic activities. Wedding plans, work changes and other details that have wiped me out for the last while - and are only going to make forum participation even more of a misdirected effort for me over the next year or so and make it a necessary move - to move on.

I think this place is great but under the realities of my present situation I feel it would be better for the Monthly contest to get a new shot of vigor and direction and in a stroke of luck - AnnF has agreed to take over.

With Ann's positive outlook and enthusiasm, not to mention all those kooky ideas she gets :D this should be a good step forward.

I will stop by once in a while to see how things are going in the fourthirds world here (my favorite forum) and hopefully the Monthly contest will be going stronger and stronger with time. Perhaps when that Panasonic body gets here I can participate in the contest in the future - and win a free print from Ann .... ooops!

So please welcome Ann as the new monthly contest caretaker, wish her luck - and get shooting.

Take care folks ... it has been a pleasure.

- Pavel.

Pavel, I wish you all the best in whatever you will be doing. Did I see something about a wedding there? Hope we will still be hearing from you.

Ann, welcome and I am sure that the contest is in capable hands with you. From what I have seen from you I know that you know what you are talking about on this site. (and probably off the site as well :D )

Woo! Good Luck Pavel! I've been quite busy with other things too. I'm finally working on a new website and have been quite busy at home preparing the baby room.

I'm sure AnnF will do a great job!

Thanks Luke. Yes a wedding in the next while is the prime factor. A guy has to grow up sometimes and get down to priorities so that the big things get closer.

Gunnerx ... congrats on about what you are busy with. Gimme some time ... perhaps I will be asking for advice on the same topic one day soon - though I've gone through it a few times already. I'd slow down this time and take it slow and enjoy the details more.

Best Luck to you.

Pavel,
You'll be missed. Thanks for all the advice you've given, it's been much appreciated.

Ann,
I will try to someday get a photo worthy of the competition. I do enjoy see the submissions but never even feel qualified to vote.

Hey Pavel,

I don't believe you... after a while you'll be hanging over that screen of yours whenever the missus have gone to bed. We are a too good bunch to dismiss for such insignifican matter that you imply: http://www.birdforum.net/images/smilies/ivn.gif (http://www.birdforum.net/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=259#)http://www.birdforum.net/images/smilies/pri.gif (http://www.birdforum.net/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=259#)

Nevertheless, good luck! See you at Birdforum or wherever? Don't miss to stop by during the next Europeans or Worlds in Ice Hockey ... http://www.birdforum.net/images/smilies/pint1.gif (http://www.birdforum.net/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=259#)

Cheers, Jens.

Heyyyy! I resemble that statement!:p And don't spill ALL the beans at once!

Thanks, all.

I'm going to start training for a new photo job tomorrow. I'll hopefully be working for www.obeo.com (http://www.obeo.com) as early as next week. Going to invest in the 11-22mm lens (10mm is required, but that will do fine), thanks to one of our members, and can't start producing until I get it.

My youngest daughter & her husband will be visiting for a few days this week, then I do a wedding on the 18th (a contact I made at the beauty pageant).
I have been busy, too, but I should be able to keep up with the contests.

If anyone has any trouble resizing a photo, I can help. I have dsl, so it won't be a problem receiving large files.

Ann, I'm fairly new to this Monthly thing, but...
I popped a couple into the reflections one, but the EXIF seems to have gone west? I have no problem with them getting chopped, as EXIF is a rule. How do I get them put back, please?

Pavel, I have enjoyed your conversations here. You have offered many tips that have been helpful. Hopefully you will return when time allows. Keep shotting photos no matter what.
AnnF, you will do a great job designing and running the contest. It is a fair amount of work but should be very rewarding. You seem to have much energy and great ideas. Good look with the new job too.
thanks
