I have had many tripods over the years, you know the ones from Sears that cost $25 and last about that many days. I guess I had never had a really good one until about 5 years ago. At that time I bought a Manfrotto 3001, it was a little heavy but is was a great tripod. There was only one problem with it and that is the same problem that all tripods have and that is the levers, screws or clamps that keep the legs extended.
Last year I got the Manfrotto NeoTec 458B.

Pros:
Fast fast setup time... I timed it one day just for the heck of it, and it took 7 sec. to setup. There are no levers to flip, no screws to turn, just pull the legs down and its read to go.

Fast fast take down time, Yes I timed that also, it was 7 sec. Three buttons that you can press with one hand at the top and just push it down.

It has a rapid column, that is just turn a knob and pull it up and down.

The column can be pulled out and put back side ways for going over a table or for really low shooting.

Legs can go out to a flat position to shot right down on the ground.

Weight is very good, for a full size no composite tripod. 5.3 lb.

It comes with a very nice strap to carry it with.

Very good looking black tripod

Cons:
The cost is a little high, but for me it was well worth it.
Not as sturdy as my older 3001, but it will handle up to 17.6 lbs. It handle my E1 with the 50-200, 1.4 ext, and flash with no problem at all.

I am sure you have been out shooting and been on the side of a hill and trying to get the tripod level, well the NeoTec can handle that task in a flash.
I have never enjoyed using a tripod as much as I have the NerTec, it is so fast and can be leveled on the side of a hill or stairway so fast, again, no levers to flip, just a button at the top of each leg will lower the leg, and just by pulling the leg it will come right out.
I even can set it up in the cab of my little S-10 pickup
