View Full Version : Post Your Final October Photo Contest Entry Here
OUTDOOR LANDSCAPE
Here's a link to the rules and prize for this month's contest:
http://fourthirdsphoto.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=6465
Please submit one final photo for the contest. If you choose to change it before the end of the month, please submit another one and let me know to delete the first one.
One more thing...Please give your photo a TITLE.
Thanks,
Ann
Nearby I cannot find any landscape to compete with snowy mountains, canyons etc. So I took a 5 minute walk and decided to go for the minimalist approach. The white "thing" in the distance is a metal work of art which makes one think of 3 swans or 3 dragons. As there are also 3 horses in the picture the title is: 3 + 3.
I used 2 shots, one exposed for the sky and a second one exposed for the landscape and applied a layer mask. Further PP involved some cloning and dodging.

Repost after putting it in the wrong thread before:
How could I resist this month's theme?
This was the first morning sunlight after a cold, first rainy, then snowy night on the last day of a 5 day backpacking trip in the California Sierra.

It's been getting very stressful dashing away from work thinking it may be the last decent light this month:smile: . Tonight was a pretty dismal show until this beautiful scene appeared as I drove home in the twilight.

My first participation ever on this site  , thanks to Ann who reminded me
Title: Crystall Mill
Story: This old mill at Crystal (Colorado) may be the most photographed mill in the USA, but access to it is no less than challenging; i had to drive 8 miles on dirt road to the town of Marble on 4WD; from there it got more treacherous: the rocky unpaved 1 lane trail narrowed the next 4 miles, and was flanked on the right but steep ravines; on the way i saw a flipped over truck down the side of the mountain, its passenger perhaps facing certain harm or even death; the trip was heart pounding and risky but the prize was well worth it ...the beauty of the place is best captured w a wide lens or w pano stitches, neither of which i have or have done ;-))

The title refers to what the october sun is here in Finland. By now it's a rare guest, this image was taken the 8th of this month after a heavy shower of rain.
My first entry in a competition here. Not so much that I think it has a chance against the wonderful images here, but I used my 35mm Zuiko macro for this one. What a brilliant versatile lens it is!

Hi Tony,
No idea how the rules handle this, but IMHO it is inappropriate to vote for one's own image.

If this doesn't qualify, that's ok. At least I have something in. There is not too much to take photos of around here.
