December's theme is "Into The Distance".

The contest will run from the first of the month until the last day.
Please post 1 (one) submission per person with a title.

The submitted photo(s) must be taken during the month of the contest (or within a few days) with any 4/3 system camera (basic exif data should show date taken & system used). If you change your mind, let me know and you can submit a newer photo and the older one will be deleted.

A poll will be posted after the end of the month and the community at large will vote on all submissions. The one with the most votes at the end of the poll wins (if there is a tie, more time will be allowed for more votes to break it).

The voting will last 3-4 days. You can vote once for your own entry or for someone else's should you feel it is more deserving.

The winner will be notified via fourthirds PM system, so please make sure you check for messages after the voting is over (or simply turn on your option to receive messages).

Remember; Please give your photo a title.

If you have any questions, send me a PM.

Title: A bridge too far

The Astoria-Megler Bridge is a continuous truss bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuous_truss_bridge) that spans the mouth of the Columbia River (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia_River) between Astoria, Oregon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astoria%2C_Oregon) and Point Ellice near Megler, Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Megler%2C_Washington&action=edit). It is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.
The bridge is 21,474 ft (6,545 m) in length and carries one lane of traffic in each direction. The main span is closest to the Oregon side. The bridge was built to withstand 150 mph (240 km/h) wind gusts and river speeds of 9 mph (14 km/h). Here's the view from the Astoria, Oregon side

This is my entry for this month, I came across this scene at the old metro station downtown. E 1 with attached 14~54 was used. Slight croppping, and pp to bw to give image more of an interesting dimensional effect.

I like this month's theme, but since I'm moving soon I may not be able to create an image this time around. Renee's entry is nice (I love railroads) and I created a similiar photo in March. Even if it were valid, her shot is much better. Good luck to you all either way.

Great shots, everyone! I have one, too. But I'm on the road (in a hotel with internet access) at the moment. Got sick while in Florida, so we were delayed a few days and probably won't be able to make any stops along the way except to sleep because I need to be back by Saturday to work at the Folsom Zoo. I think I got a cool shot of an old unusable bridge.

Don't forget...the closest perspective will be the WIDEST and the farthest perspective will be the SMALLEST. In other words, think of the widest angle of the shot being the closest to the shooter and the smallest angle will be the furthest away.

Hi Anne and the participants....I was going to dig something out and post it until I saw what has already been posted and I have to say from my prospective that they are all winners. I couldn't possibly compete with these excellent shots. I also have to congratulate Anne in her hard work keeping this contest going, altho there really isn't a contest when they all win!!!

Thanks.:) I guess I should make an announcement in the chit-chat forum. Heck, if there were other members in the Vegas area I would invite everyone then. But as it stands we will just go to the courthouse and exchange the vows there.
