Now we can be creative here, (macros of an old fob watch internals comes to mind) but that might put us Southern Hemisphereans at a disadvantage.
Maybe you might consider that Downunder - its Autumn here !

So do we on the underside get special dispensation to submit Autumn photos ?

04-02-2007, 07:21 PM
Sure. That sounds fair. You have to understand that not only am I an american, but I am a Californian, so I know for a fact that the world revolves aaround me. So I forgot that it was Autumn there.

04-02-2007, 08:14 PM
It is also snowing over here by the time I am writing these lines...

04-02-2007, 09:21 PM

Now I guess I'll have to enter having made such a fuss.

04-02-2007, 11:37 PM
lol. Sorry guys, Good luck finding "spring" (and for the southern hemisphere "Autum") images. Gilles, lets hope that something blooms before the end of the month.

04-03-2007, 10:14 AM
As far as I can tell, none of the prizes work on a Mac. Pity.

As far as I can tell, none of the prizes work on a Mac. Pity.

A year of smugmug does. In addition, this is a qualification for the end of year prizes.
So far I have a lens baby, a life time account for smugmug ($150 a year value) an upstrap, and I will work on more prizes through out the year.

04-03-2007, 02:58 PM
As far as I can tell, none of the prizes work on a Mac. Pity.I'm sorry for that Jeremy. We are just Win based company ;) As far as I know, some of our users reported a success in running them on MAC and Linux, using some WIN emulators. But I'm afraid, I can't tell you which one exactly.

04-03-2007, 03:04 PM
Looks outside. Hmm, 2cm of snow on ground and still snowing.
Looks at forecast. Hmm. Snow until Thursday, Lows still below zero until Saturday.

Not gunna get a lot of spring in the foothills for a while...

04-05-2007, 12:01 PM
Alright I renamed the thread to "seasonal" then whatever season you are having you can post images from that.

04-07-2007, 07:13 PM
I've never in my life entered a photo contest before. At this rate, I'll enter another one when I'm 87 :hmm: .

Oh, I do hope that I was supposed to post the entry on this thread?

My wife is away for a couple of weeks so I have to fend for myself in the feeding department etc. Here's a little something I threw together the other night for dinner - I call it haute cuisine and it's lamb cutlets with pommes frites aux herbs et epice (excuse the fractured french). Garnished with garlic chives fresh mint and mint sauce. Tasted pretty good to me anyway.

The title is: Spring lamb in autumn.

04-07-2007, 10:15 PM
Great going so far. I love it. And yest post threads in here, so I can keep track of them.

Red Dead Nettle (Lamium purpureum) growing out of a clump of native Japanese spider lily grass (Lycoris radiata).

The Japanese name of this plant is Hime odoriko sō meaning "Princess dancer." The spider lily is in turn called Higanbana in Japanese, meaning "Nirvana flower." This name derives from the fact that the flowers bloom around the fall equinox, a season traditionally observed by visits to family graveyards.

Why not participate in the fun here

I don't think this is the best picture I've shot this month but it describes the risk that the plants have to take in Denmark in April ver well.

Very often the temperature is below the freezing point in Demark during April, and some plants just can't wait to show off, so they die if the freezing injuries are to severe.

The plant is a Narcissus pseudonarcissus (known as the Wild daffodil).

OK; I'm game; here goes ... 'A Pair of Cedar Wax Wings'

About 30 of these birds were gorging themselves on the fruit of a loquat tree in the backyard this afternoon. They'll be leaving, flying north to their summer breeding grounds in the days and weeks to come.

This afternoon we had heavy cloud cover, which necessitated lower shutter speeds than I would have preferred to use, along with high ISO and a wide open aperture.

Entitled "High Plains Spring"

Up here its not unheard of to get a snowstorm in the middle of June that will shut down the interstate. So we always get nice contrasts between the new green on the trees and fresh snow.

Here is my try I was unsure of the rules because I could not find them. I hope this is OK and if not please steer me in right direction!

I think it is perfectly ok, you can check it for yourself at:

I copied the contest part below:

Also to the above rules for monthly contests:
1. all photos should be shot in the same month as the contest.
2. All photos should be from a 4/3 system camera.
3. You should provide EXIF info for the picture, so that we can verify the info.
4. No pictures will be used for any other reason than the creator has intended, e.g. don't print there photos without permission, or use them for any purpose of your own.

Hi, new to the forum and new to my recently acquired E500.. This was the 4th photo I shot using the supplied 40-150 lens on all Auto. Not the greatest as it was very cloudy and I was hand holding at 150mm. The Killdeers set up housekeeping in our gravel drive every spring. I put small flags next to the nests so visitors don't run over the eggs..
