I was thinking of a 11-22 to complete my range of lenses, but this puppy looks great on paper, and a rebate is available. I am waiting for some real world images. GerryH

Popular Photography did a review on this lens. Very high marks. Here's the link. (http://www.popphoto.com/cameralenses/5033/lens-test-olympus-zuiko-digital-12-60mm-f28-4-swd-af.html) Makes me wish I could afford one.:D

I picked this one up as a do it all lens for a small kit.

Pros> It draws exceedingly well (subjective), focus is fast and accurate on the 420, it's sharp at large aperture (impressively so). Fairly light and compact, again subjective.

Cons> I wish it were wider and shorter optically, "Imager AF" doe's not function on the 420 with this lens, this annoys the me to no end because on the tripod the more points the better.

Although this is an older post, I thought I'd throw my two bits in.

My son received his E-3 with 12-60 lens about two weeks ago. We've given it a pretty decent work out since its arrival. I have to say that this lens is SHARP. Very difficult, if not impossible, to tell the difference between the 12-60 images and those from the 50 mm macro. It looks like we've doubled the Mp in camera.

Focus has to be experienced to be believed. We've tried it on his 410 and my 510 as well. Extremely fast. Hunting? What is that?

I thought the images I've gotten with the kit lens (14-42) were pretty decent but this thing is head and shoulders above that lens.

My only other comment is "WOW."

Check out Tony's test of this function for this lens. http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/blog.php?b=10

It apparently works on his E420
