The Live View update will allow a customer with a Live View capable camera to see a live preview from within the Olympus Studio Software Camera Control window. This feature aids the customer in composing and focusing the picture live, especially helpful for macro, astro photography and microscopy.

- Available to all Olympus Studio 2 users as a free update using the Update Software function in the application.

Requirements:
-Video capture device attached to the computer. These are readily available from computer suppliers and electronic stores ranging in price from $30-$100+. Some high end video cards have video IN ports built-in.
- E-330, E-410 and E-510 require the USB AV/PC-2 cable
Once the Live View update is available the cable can be purchased on-line from the Olympus store at, https://emporium.olympus.com

New Features:
- Adds a new page to the Options dialog.
- Enable Live View check box
- Select from available video capture devices
- Select Live View output (video out or LCD)
- Adds new buttons to the Camera Control tool bar.
- Enable Live View display
- Live View ON/OFF
- Toggle between Live View and captured image

- Windows version will be available first in April 2008. The Mac version will follow by late spring.

Until then you can show live capture outside of Studio by using my setup listed in the Articles section.

Good news..... however, I still cannot get a license from Olympus HK, they said they do not have any license keys from head office, and Olympus Japan keep telling me to consult Olympus HK, they keep in walking in circles http://fourthirdsphoto.com/vbb/images/icons/icon8.gif

What is wrong with Olympus in past few months? are they willing to do business?

Wow that's a cool feature, but at present I'm sitting on the live view fence. The E-330's prices are amazingly low and I may take the plunge soon. Thanks for posting Tony!

I still cannot understand why separate video cable is needed to feed LV video from a camera to a computer? Is it so difficult to do it via single USB cable? My 4+ years old Canon G3 can do that perfectly. There will be a digital-to-analogue-to-digital conversion involved in whole path from the sensor of the camera till computer's monitor which degrades the video quality. On the other hand, how many nootbooks have build-in video input today? I think Oly should definitely think about Firewire or HDMI in the future.

Olympus built the E-1 with firewire. USB is much more common than firewire, and download speeds are very similar. Firewire was abandoned in the E-3, which IMO, is just fine.
