April 08 Photo Contest - "Bliss"

Hi all,

The theme for April 2008 is "bliss".
The contest runs from the 1st - 30th.

Please reduce your entry to 800 pixels in width and upload it to this album:

The photo must be taken in the month of the contest. You are allowed to submit one (1) photo. Although, if you change your mind and want to submit a different one we can remove the one previously submitted in the gallery. Some have expressed wanting to wait until the end of the month to submit theirs and that is fine.

It would be nice if your entry have a title. Please make sure the exif info is attached to the photo. If you don't include your username with the photo, please pm me so I know who it belongs to.

The entries will be judged according to these criteria:
Subject: Does the subject fit the theme?
Creativity: How effectively/dramatically/interestingly is the subject presented?
Composition: Has the subject been composed appropriately/interestingly?
Lighting: Has lighting been used appropriately/effectively for the subject?
Technical: Has the subject been exposed, focussed, etc appropriately/correctly?1st place and 2nd place winners will each have a choice of one of the prizes below. There will also be two who place 3rd and 4th, and they will have a chance at the end of the year for the Photographer of the Year.

And it would be fun to see more people participating in this contest. Having a PRO Smugmug account "$149.95" for 1 year or a Silkypix software "$149.00" could prove very valuable. Did i mention that every members can participate? regardless of how long you've been an Olympus owner or been around this forum.

What do you think Tony, is there any way to promote this contest to attract more people to it?

Um... I don't really know what to do.... I mean the past prizes alone should promote the heck out of it.
I will mention it when I send out the next newsletter, But I don't know what else to do.

I think a lot of the participation for each month's contest depends on the subject.
I went to the gallery and looked at last year's participation and it varied quite a bit.
The OUTSIDE topic of July 07 had 65 participants.

Hello Peter, yes you are quite correct, you have to be a paying member to participate. This must be a new rule that i didn't know about until you mentioned it. I did find out to in the "membership" tap at the top of the web site.

So i would like to say im truly sorry for getting false hopes on some people. Is this actually a case where i would have to live up to my signature?:hmm::doh:

It was clearly something that the subscribers pushed for this year... But to tell you the truth I haven't really started enforcing it yet. So let's keep it open for now, till I rework for the forum. to make it a little more clear.

I've been trying to delete 1 of my (by mistake) uploaded pics but can't seem to get it to delete. It's the 1st one of the couple watching the sun set. The 2nd one has a description and keywords. Could an administrator delete it otherwise.

Great Shot Jan, But it doesn't fit into the requirements. all photos must be taken in the month of the contest, where as yours say 2006.
