01-30-2010, 11:36 PM
Dear fellow 4/3 forum members, ladies and gentlemen, bots and spiders:

I am pleased to start a shooting promotion with the assistance of the judges of this event.

The duration of this event is 4 weeks, starting from February 1 to 28, 2010.

Aim: Promote wildlife photography and show your photos to all members located in different part of the world. This is neither a contest nor a competition, it is all about photography and fun.

Rules: I made it as simple and open as possible and listed below:

Photography of wild animals (i.e., not domestic, captive, or tame animals) that appear in front of the camera by their own free will. It can be in the sky, in the water or on the ground.
Nothing may be added to a photograph and any removal of elements from a wildlife photograph must be declared. (watermark allowed)
Participant(s) can have maximum of 3 entries, please kindly caption each entry with the photographers forum alias and a number. If you have more than one entry, try to edit your first post and attach/include all photos to it.
Photos size not bigger than 1,200 x 900 pixels.
Photo(s) should be taken with 4/3 or micro 4/3 camera(s), lens(es) can be any brand, any focal length, that said, from supertele to macro.
Photo(s) should be taken between Feb 1 and 28, 2010, therefore EXIF-data must be kept intact with the submitted photo. If you need time to do PP after the promotion close, please kindly let us know (PM me), in general we allow 3 days for PP.
If there are more than one photo with same votes, I will add my own vote, the one and only, otherwise I will stay neutral.
The copyrights of the photo(s) always belongs to the shooter.
Please kindly do not comment on any photo(s) before the event ends, however, after the price announced, do anything you like but make it a positive one.
Any judge can participate too, only cannot vote for his/her own photo(s).

If you have any question(s), please ask at this link (http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/showthread.php?t=54269), this thread is solely for posting your entries, which allow us to manage it easier.

mco_970 - Michelle
Bill Turner - Bootstrap
Rand47 - Rand
BHamm - Bruce

The team of judges will vote for each photo according to their own experience and personal angle of view and the final vote will be announced on March 15, but if there are a lot of photos for our judges to vote, could be the date will be postpone a little bit.

Make more photos and have fun, enjoy!
The price is only a small piece of glass paper weight with the renowned E-1 inside and doesn't cost much, wish the winner accepts this humble gift.
The price will send to the winner by airmail parcel at my cost, wherever the location.

Here are my entries. Exif data should be intact, if not let me know (I have had problems with this in the past).

Last year's fawn (male) with it's mother. These two spent about 20 minutes licking each other's neck and face. Meanwhile, the fawn's twin (female) was about 25 ft away munching on the brush.

After awhile the fawn tried riding the doe, only he didn't quite know what he was doing yet! After a couple of minutes the doe got tired of this, pushed him away, and walked off.

This female Belted Kingfisher was keeping a keen eye out for any flying fish that might pass by!

Taken with the E-520. EXIF data should be intact or on my Flickr site. Any problems, just ask. Thanks.

A selection from a couple of cold (-25 - -30C) mornings in Yellowstone must begin with a Yellowstone Icon - the Bison:
Caption: Jens-1 - The Bison

Second is a male Barrow's goldeneye (Bucephala islandica) in nice company of a mix of females of Barrow's and common goldeneye (Bucephala clangula):
Caption: Jens-2 - Always Warm in Nice Company

Finally; a couple of male Barrow's goldeneyes:
Caption: Jens-3 -Looking Good!
In this 3rd photo, I have cloned out a splash of water emerging right behind the head of left bird (caused by another bird diving at the moment the shutter tripped).

Cheers, Jens.
