A new shot taken after 10 Nov 2010 and preferably close to your home but don't let that hold you back :)

Cheers, Don

This one is not terribly recent; but, I won't let that hold me back...:). this is about 6 miles from my home. Some tone mapping involved in the processing to bring out some highlights in the shadow areas under the trees, and emphasize the colors a bit....

This is from Vigra, a island just north of Aalesund Norway. Taken on Tuesday, E3, 50-200SWD + TC-20, 400mm handheld F7,1.

From Friedrichshafen in Germany, 23rd of September this year.

Here is one of the first sunset pics I have done with my E510. Still gotta get the hang of these settings. 08/31/10; 150mm; F8; ISO100; 1/350.

This was taken just down the road from my house in SEMO. Gotta love sunsets!

Some very nice work guys.

I especially enjoy seeing the diverse landscapes.

Not to single anyone out but perhaps we need to give MikeL some points for the deer, he, he...

Hopefully this will motivate others to get out and do some new work :)

Cheers, Don

11-15-2010, 08:44 PM
some points for the deer, he, he...
No points deserved for those deer. They're in a Nat'l Pk and practically tame. :) Too much trouble to chase 'em away.

Too much trouble to chase 'em away.

That is too funny, he, he...

I've got easily a hundred deer in my immediate area and it would be extremely difficult for me to plan a shot like that :)

Cheers, Don

11-15-2010, 11:10 PM
it would be extremely difficult for me to plan a shot like that
Maybe because you are a thousand miles from the ocean? :)

Don Kondra
11-15-2010, 11:15 PM
Well, there is that one little detail too :)

Cheers, Don

11-16-2010, 10:28 AM
Here are a couple I took within an hour of each other and a couple of miles apart. Both from West Cork, on the south coast of Ireland.

11-17-2010, 04:02 AM
Thank you Don for starting this assignment, it's nice to see the different sunsets from all over the world.

This one is from north west of Auckland, New Zealand.

After Nov 10: tonight 7:30 pm
Close to home: from/on our deck

The good thing is that we can see this almost every day this time of year, the bad thing is it only last for maybe 10-15 minutes, at the most.

There are some lovely sunsets in this thread.
Here's one from this summer from Lista, south Norway.
I didn't plan to take a picture of a cow, but the picture is one of my favorites from the trip...

Putnam County, Missouri on the farm of Hercel Alexander (Wife's grandfather). Caught this sky as we finished a day of deer hunting. Needless to say all of the deer got to enjoy this as well.

This was one of my favorites. It was taken by my 14 year old son Ryan with an E-510 I had just picked up for him on eBay. Freezing cold at Smithville Lake, just north of Kansas City. I did a little PS on it, but this was basically what we were looking at.

Well, since we don't have sun at this time of year, I thought I'd post a sunset from this past summer (three photos because I couldn't decide which i liked better) ;)

I think the location is obvious, but these were shot with my E-P1.

The first image is a sunset shot with my E-420. I call the series "Peach Ripple".
The second two are actually not Olympus, not digital, and not a Sunset.
They were shot on Fuji Velveeta 100 and were shot on the Central California coast driving South as the sun was rising out of the water. Shot sometime in the 80's... My time in California was a huge blur.

Anyone want to guess how I got a Sunrise out of the California Coast.

Here is a special version of a sunset scene. I fell for the motive when I saw that the stribe from the plane is making a shadow on the cloud above.

Although it was a cloudy, drab evening (Sept. 17/11), I decided to chase some icebergs. My journey took me to Westport, NL., where a few bergs were floating in the harbour.

After a few boring snaps I decided to explore a bit further. Returning about ten minutes later, I was greeted with this, as the sun broke through the clouds at the horizon.

Took this picture yesterday evening of the sunset over the North Fork of the Clark Fork River in northern Idaho. There were some impressive clouds.

You can see some of the old dock pilings leading to the railroad tracks where they used to load & unload trains way back in the day. This is pretty much straight from the camera, no crop, a little lightening, no saturation added.
