Chit Chat Re: where did everybody go!

Just came here out of curiosity. Itís been quite a while.

I had A LOT of money tied up in fourthirds gear. When it became apparent that Olympus was no longer going to support the system I...

Micro 4/3 Re: OMD what would you like?

Should be able to change size of AF points like on my GF1.
I would like to be able to fire the shutter with my IR remote. It worked on all of my 4/3 cameras.
WB sensor would be nice like on E-x...

    Re: Hello from England

Welcome to the site Caz, from a bit further south.

I'm sure you are going to like it here. There is a lot of knowledge to be tapped into and it is pretty civilised, unlike some other sites I...

Re: Why not a larger viewfinder?

    A related question...
Why does the viewfinder on the E500 show a smaller area than the finished photo?
It's a real pain composing a photo and then having to crop to get rid of unwanted picture...

    I wouldn't change a thing. I love them.
But I would like to see them bigger.

    Re: Mexico - Mayan sites

Wonderful subjects. That's another place on my must-visit list.
Look a bit dark though. I think a bit of a shadow/highlight adjustment would give them more impact.

    More Sandy Patterns

Henk's post reminded me of these.

The beach had a covering of sea-coal, etched by running water.
They would have been better with a polariser to take off a bit of the shine.

Re: do you like Stephen Shore photos?

When I first saw the pictures yesterday I thought they were quite interesting and that I would like to see some more of Shore's work.
    Found no1 very atmospheric

Re: 2 out of focus shots

The way the first one is looking straight at the camera means that the beak doesn't show at all. It looks like a snake coming out of the bird's body.
A very unusual and disconcerting shot.

I have just tried it and yes, it does turn itself off after 8 minutes.
We have both learned something new.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.
Thankfully the sand stayed around ankle height, not camera height.

    Windy Beach

Have been staying in all week, sheltering from the weather. Finally got out with the camera yesterday.
Still quite breezy though as you can see from the blowing sand.

    Re: Seagull's in flight

I used to get colour casts with my E500. I found that changing the picture mode from the default Vivid setting to Natural has pretty much solved the problem. Otherwise I have no idea.

As for which raw developer Almo should use, I would say try a few and see what suits you best. Most can be downloaded for a trial...

    Re: Fishermen's Huts

    Re: Shooting the moon

I find the best way to get the right exposure is to shoot in manual mode, set the aperture to f8 or f11 and vary the shutter speed until it looks good on the LCD. 1/60s is a good place to start.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll try to post a photo.

If this works it will be Bilsdale, looking towards Hasty Bank in the
    Cleveland Hills.

I prefer the first one as well. The light rough grass in the foreground is well balanced by the patch in the midground, which leads on to the patch on the far ridge.

    I find the foreground and...
