Re: Zuiko 8mm Fisheye The Good & The Bad

There's a significant amount of CA in this shot. Do you ever try and remove it in software, or just live with it?

I have an oil bath diamond saw, will that do the trick if I cut slow enough?

Re: That 25mm f1.4 from Leica......

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. That IS works on the P-1 and that the apature ring functions on the P-1. After all isn't that all in the software of the body?

    That 25mm f1.4 from Leica......

    http://www.dpreview.com/news/0703/07030703leica50mmsumm.asp

Will it and the other Leica lenses function on the new P-1 as they were designed to function on the Leica/Pany?:hmm:

    Wouldn't that...

Re: Rumour of Nikon going towards 4/3ds

Give me a square sensor and I'd be happy to "waste" 25% of the pixels just so I wouldn't have to turn the camera for portrait mode.

In fact why not make the chip hexagonal. Maximizes fabrication...

    Re: Flip It.

The Flip It also works wonders for off the cuff semi-macro work, letting you bounce the light down in front of the lens and on the subject.

    Re: Best RAW converter compromise

    OK, guys.
Picture Window Pro 4.0 is out and it does RAW. Reasonably fast and will do the work in the background as a batch process if you want.
To my eye, there is no difference between its output...

    Re: Polarizer for 14-54 & 40-150 ?

I also would suggest the B+W MRC Circular in 67mm with a stepup ring for the lens with the 58mm threads. Not cheap but worth it....

    Re: Filters

A polarizer will definately mess up outdoor pictures where sky is involved. But you might want one if your trying to remove reflections on objects, off of water, or shooting thru glass. In other...

    Thanks for the actual quote.

And maybe he did......I'm of the age where Snap, Crackle and Pop describe my joints in the morning, not my breakfast cereal.

Re: Anyone tested the Oly 18-180 yet ?

    No photos to post.
But when I was in Arlington Camera last week I put one on my E-1 and just played with it.
It seems to focus just a little slower than the 50-200 at the long end.
    Seemed pretty...

Re: Tripod or no Tripod ?

It's easy to take the tripod if you subscribe to the theory that "photos that require you to walk further than 50 yards from the vehicle aren't very interesting.":D

Re: Tripod or no Tripod ?

Like others here, it's usually in the vehicle.
Although on long walks on dark days I take the Leki Walkingstick/Monopod which works OK for something to steady yourself against.

Re: Help!!! With my new E1

I notice that if I turn the flash on when it is not connected to the camera then I get no TTL option. Perhaps you are not making good connection to the camera (dirty connector?)

    Just a thought.

    Re: Hot/Dead Pixels

I've never shot a picture of the inside of my lens cap, but if I did and picked a reasonable speed like 60th then I would expect no hot pixels. On the other hand I have shot long exposures at night...

Re: Help!!! With my new E1

Set the ISO on the camera to "A" for Auto, then the flash will give you the TTL Auto option.

I completely disagree with the above post and with Mr. Rockwell's conclusions.

Re: E500 and Flash Firing Voltages

The trigger voltage on my FL-50 is 4.5v.
You should be fine as long as the trigger contact is in the center and not over one of the data contacts.
