  1. Camera Topics Re: Loss of Detail between Live View and actual image

Thanks Michael, the image on the camera screen is actually very detailed for a Jpeg. Then I opened the RAW file in Oly Studio and zoomed right in without any processing. There is detail there about...
  2. Camera Topics Re: Loss of Detail between Live View and actual image

    Thanks Michael and Rich,
In camera I'm saving the image as RAW + LSF jpeg.
I opened the RAW file in Olympus Studio, and converted it to 16 bit TIFF, using default options, and then viewed in PS.
    I...

I hope there is a simple answer to this.
I'm using an E-620 body with a Zeiss 500/8 mirror lens attached.
I'm focusing on a fence line in full sunlight maybe a couple of Km away.

    Hi John,
I know nothing about the Metabones adapter, or even the Canon lens, apart from what I've learnt from Daniel's comments.
OTOH, I've been trading on eBay for several years now and they have...

    Thanks,

Very tempted by the 75mm, wasn't planning on buying one so now I'm looking for excuses. Rare to find a fast AND super sharp lens.

    New topic.
Focal Reducers have been around for many years for telescopes, but now I see they're becoming extremely popular for adapting full frame, even medium format lenses to e.g. M4/3 cameras....

And I've just realised the AA filter is not the same as the IR filter, two separate pieces of glass. And it's the IR filter I want to remove for astro pics. So I'm back to square one. Interesting...

I'm using RAW. I had been using 1600 ISO but just my impression it was still noisy, even after stacking a dozen or so (untracked) images. I'm stacking in DeepSkyStacker.

I've been reading a few reviews on the Tokina 300/2.8, and while they all say wonderful sharpness, some of them admit to purple fringing of highlights, and that's on the later autofocus lenses...
