Re: I am NEVER shooting raw again

Perhaps it's because I'm usually shooting in challenging light condition (lots of night shots, dawn/dusk, etc), but I couldn't get by without RAW. There are very few pictures for which I haven't...

Re: Aperture priority shooting with E510

    Hi Jim,

I think I have an idea of what you want to do Jim. I've seen it done before with a pinhole camera (and most likely lots of ND filtering and low ISO film) to take a super long exposure of...

    Re: 4/3 short primes?

I have both the 35mm MAcro and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4, and I tend to prefer the 35mm Zuiko for landscapes.

-It's smaller, lighter, and thus less prone to shake
-I usually shoot panoramas around f/9...

    Re: Dust inside Sigma 50-500

One year seems short. Most of Sigma's EX lenses come with either 5 or 10 year warranties depending on the country.

Re: E-510 Field Review by John Isaac

This is a nice review indeed, but it reads a bit too much like an infomercial to me. It's almost as if he went doen the E-510s feature list and wrote something good about it.

    The 510 is a great...

    Re: 70-300 announced today

good point. I have noticed some weird metering effects with OM lenses where exposure is inconsistent across aperture ranges.

    Re: 70-300 announced today

I'd really like to see the US price for this. I'm estimating 499$ max, considering the horribly skewed exchange rate that's usually applied for Europe. That would be a very nice lens that could...

    Noise reduction in Lightroom?

I've been playing around in Lightroom for a long time now, and I really like it. The only problem I have with it is that there's not heavy-duty noise-reduction functions like Noise Ninja or...

Re: E-510 and the not articulating screen...

It's quite easy... I just lie down on the ground with the camera :) Joking aside, I wish the 510 did have the articulating screen, but it would most likely have made it rather larger.

Re: Does the E-510 IS work with long lenses

I was able to pull that off with the E-1 (I have rather steady hands), so I suspect that it should be really easy to do with the E-510. I just haven't had the chance to take the camera out in full...

Re: Opinions for E-500 & E-510 Dual Lens Kit

I haven't seen the new 40-150mm, but I do have both the 14-45 and 14-42. I was disappointed that the 14-42 has a plastic lens mount. Apart from that, I'd say is just as good as the 14-45. The...

Re: Does the E-510 IS work with long lenses

I haven't done any formal tests, but don't expect miracles. I was shooting at dusk in limited light, and I was able to get good shots hand-holding the Bigma up to 250mm or so. Past that, I was...

FS: E500 w/14-45 or trader for Sigma macro

Having just gotten the E-510, there's little reason to keep 3 camera bodies, so the E-500 is going up for sale along with the 14-45mm lens.

The camera is in great shape and functions perfectly....

    Re: Weird noise with E510

That really makes a lot of sense actually! I never really thought of it because not all pictures were affected, but all the ones that were were from a particular area of the tower, which may have...

    Re: Weird noise with E510

This was shot as RAW, and the RAW file looks just as bad. I'm pretty sure it's not the glass, because I have other good shots shot through the glass with the E-510, as well as the E-1.

    I didn't...

    Weird noise with E510

I took some pictures from the CN Tower in Toronto last weekend, and I have some that came out with some rather weird noise that I can't really explain.

I have attached the most flagrant example,...

Re: Olympus sent me a 510 for review

I think it's been posted a few times, IS does not work with any non-ZD lens. I have testes with an OM lens, and IS is not available.

Re: Have I got a bad Lens?

Could it be that there just isn't enough contrast there to be able to focus correctly? The 30mm at 1.4 can take pictures where many other lenses simply won't do the job at all, but sometimes I tend...

Re: Any RAW processor available for E-510?

I'm not sure why it didn't work the first time, but it's fine now. The only difference is that the first time, I had excluded JPEG Previews from the DNG file.

Re: Any RAW processor available for E-510?

Hmm, I'll have to try that out again... I've got my laptop here, I'll do a test during lunch of the pictures I took in Toronto over the weekend.

Re: Any RAW processor available for E-510?

Has this actually worked for you? I tried and Lightroom couldn't open the DNG after conversion. It probably could if I were to make it a linear conversion, but that results in a 36MB DNG file.

Re: Have I got a bad Lens?

Hmm... That's quite odd. I've had the 30mm since it came out in October, and I've made extensive use of it and never had a problem.

What camera were you using with it? I usually use it on my...
