Great pictures - plenty of detail and the EYES! A couple need the colour balance tweaked - probably light filtered through foliage.

    Camera Topics Re: OM D

Fair comment. I am aware of them, but having spent quite a bit on shitty u4/3 zooms, knowing their theoretical limitations, and having the unlimited (technically) 4/3 equivalents, I am unlikely to...

    Camera Topics Re: OM D

It can't really drive the 4/3 lenses (focusing speed is ridiculous) and the native u4/3 zooms are optically pretty poor, so stick with the primes. There are plenty of great primes in interesting...

Camera Topics EM-5 battery running flat

Can't find the original post, but wanted to confirm that the battery in the OM-D runs flat within a week or so even without use. This is unlike the E3, E5 and EPL2.

I agree with both of you.
(and I think the future of DSLRs will be at the pro end with hybrid viewfinders.

That's easy - "Not." Olympus has publicly stated on several occasions that the two lines cross hybridize each others technology.

Camera Topics Re: E-M5 Long Exposure Noise

Yes - this is all true. I tend to think with a perfect exposure at ISO100, the E3 has nicer colours and looks more "real" but I am probably dreaming.

  16. Portrait Re: Studio Photography with EM5 and 4/3 lenses- pros/cons?

The hood helps a bit, but not as much as you'd suspect. I guess they went for inexpensive blooming on the elements. Quite a shame really.
  17. Portrait Re: Studio Photography with EM5 and 4/3 lenses- pros/cons?

I have had good results with the 45mm. You need to be careful about key light direction as glare can be a problem. Also, I'd stop down a bit; F4 -F5.6 is very good.

    Camera Topics Re: Dynamic range

Yes, about 1.5 stops more, I'd guess. I had some one fiddle with some dials on the OMD slipping it from A to S mode in a dimly lit pub, resulting in 2 stops underexposure at 6400 ISO. Believe it or...
  19. Portrait Re: Studio Photography with EM5 and 4/3 lenses- pros/cons?

I agree with this, which was why I encouraged him to try u4/3 with native lenses.
  20. Portrait Re: Studio Photography with EM5 and 4/3 lenses- pros/cons?

The biggest improvements with the EM5 are dynamic range and the stabilizer, neither of which are very important for studio work. On the other hand, focus speed with you 4/3 lenses is. I'd stick with...

For people who keep wondering what the 14-35mm is like, it is like this: If you take a picture and look at it in Olympus Viewer, and click on the 1:1 button, it looks just like a photograph still. No...

    Camera Topics Re: Dynamic range

Yes - not a gigantic difference, but I think quite clear. Someone manually measured it (I'll get around to it soon too) and it was about 12.5 stops. The E3 was 10 in my hands. The E5 was about...

Camera Topics Re: Megapixels and ISO Sensitivity

I have both. The difference is not gigantic and the m4/3 lenses are lower resolution than the SHG 4/3 lenses.
