Digital Lenses Re: Sigma 24mm f/1.8 macro

Let me correct that to add that in real world use I did not note any edge softness, but in some test shots that I ran vs. the Leica 25mm lens I did discover that this lens gets just a bit soft near...

    Nice lens

That lens is one of my favorites for my OM-G. The old VS1 70-210 is a nice lens and a fair performer on our Oly DSLRs also.

    Unfortunately

It is the "registration" process that has crashed Studio on several machines that I tried it on. Too bad because it is a nice (but now basic and expected in this class) feature.

    For what it's...

    Re: 840mm Moon

    Alec,

If I'm home, it's clear and we can see it at my lat/long I certainly will look forward to capturing that. Two big ifs on the first two items, do you happen to know the answer to the third...

    Re: 840mm Moon

Thanks! Live View absolutely MAKES this kind of work. You just can't get the focus dead on without it and the 10x zoom is great. The 510 and LV was what prompted me to approach this sort of...

    840mm Moon

Lower on the horizon and heavy air tonight so a bit more color. More detail as well due to lesser phase - all in all a more pleasing shot than my one the other night I think:

    "AF" system for Olympus OM

Vivitar and I think others made some AF lenses for the OM mount that had self contained focus motors and sensors.

    Windows Vista

Believe it or not! Vista allows you to edit some EXIF info with ease and I just checked - date is one of the fields that can be edited (and/or batch edited).

    Re: Cosmic Dust Cloud

That's really nice Alec. I'm not sure I followed your comment at the end - did you say that this was a 10 stack image of 8 mins. each or 8 min exposure made of of 10 images? Or?? :dontknow:

    Re: Moon tonight, Orion 600mm + TC14

Although that makes sense given it's such a close object, the thought of that always amazes me because I've been looking at it my entire life and I almost can't conceive of it being upended!

    Moon tonight, Orion 600mm + TC14

I know I know - terrible phase to shoot the moon (so little detail to wonder at when it's this full) but I've been itching to get out with my new lens for over a week now and we've had rain and...

Re: A drink of water in the desert

Yep, that's how we get rain. Some parts of town get some and others go dry but it averages out. We've had it for four days in a row now and that's pushing a record. Funny thing about the desert is...

    Re: E410 and astrophotography?

That is one lovely Jupiter shot!! I've just acquired an 80mm APO that I intend to mount the E-510 on and I hope that I can find a way to come up with something half as nice.

    Great job,

I have to agree that I'm not fond of these kind of effects either, but I too have dabbled in them a bit just for fun. I think that the primary use for something like this is in production - flyers...

Re: Leica D Summilux 25mm f/1.4 bokeh examples

The funny thing is that I didn't even want one! I made a pilgrimage to B&H in downtown NYC and got skunked on 4/3rds gear - NADDA, ZIP, NOTHING in stock in the store and had to skulk back to my...

    Leica D Summilux 25mm f/1.4 bokeh examples

Lovely lens. No close focus so it's not really a good flower lens (these were taken at minimum focus distance), but the bokeh is lovely when open and good stopped down, and of course the lens is...
