Re: Raw File Comparison for E-500 & E-510

I've an E-300 and an E-510, the E-300 had similar, if not identical, file formats to the E-500. You can't turn off the RAW file compression in the 510, and there is really no reason to do so. ...

Yeah, she wasn't very fond of what was sitting on the porch (me), and she didn't like the shutter noise either. I think she was giving some serious thought about administering a pecking.

    Re: Supper Time!

Thanks! We've got a family of Red Tailed Hawks that make the rounds through our back yard too, I haven't been able to get a shot yet. The parents and a nearly grown fledgeling.

Re: August in Georgia - Band Summer Camp

    Hey Maddog,

It's Kell High School in Northeast Cobb, not only do they keep us off the field, but we have to pay for the priviledge of marching on it during their half-times.

    In weather like...

    Supper Time!

Our house has become home to a nest of, well, House Wrens. Interestingly, this is the same knot hole that a pair nested in last year. They are supposed to be migratory in this part of the world...

    Hi Gerry,

Is this something like what you had in mind?

A little modification of exposure and contrast.

    Re: Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Wonderful clouds! The building seems like it should be lit a bit more though, the umbrellas in front are, as well as the distance landscape at the lower left further under the cloud mass.

    Re: Oulton Pastoral Scene

I certainly saw the church, but I actually thought it might be an old keep. I.e. I was straining to see more of it. I might have perhaps doubled the size of it, on the other hand, the sky is...

Very pretty, it almost looks crystaline, like a photo of growing crystals in a solution.

August in Georgia - Band Summer Camp

It's that time of the year again.

I thought I would just use the 18-180mm today, a lens that I don't think gets enough respect. Mind you, I won't be taking it to the stadium at night, but within...

Re: Tripod question: quick release plates

I think its unique to that head/manufacturer. The Dynatran ball head I just looked up had a unique plate. About the only common standard is the Arca-Swiss plate, maybe half a dozen manufacturers...

    Re: Which one?

You wouldn't see much difference in performance between the two, the Core 2 Duo is running at a lower clock rate than the Core Duo. Maybe 10% or 20% more, if that. You probably would get better...

I take mine off first thing and put it in a little plastic zip lock bag which I stick in the camera bag and forget. Much more peace of mind. I know I haven't lost it  .

My experience was great. One of the kit lenses from the E-300 had a bit of plastic shaving from manufacture on the inner surface of the back lens. I sent the lens in and had it back cleaned in 5...

    Orchids

Some kind of Phalaenopsis. I liked the repetition, and felt that compensated for being basically the usual straight on flower shot.

Re: Preliminary Features of the New E-pro (E-P1)

I'm very happy with the new sensor. It you match that with a pro level viewfinder and the build and ergonomics (extra buttons/wheels) of the E-1 I think you have a very nice camera indeed.
