So here's where you've all been hiding. :-)
Not quite a NoVa newb.... got my first Oly digital (a D400z) back in July of '99. Picked up an Uzi (the "fabled" C-2100UZ) at the fire sale price of $399 in October of '01, and the equally unique E-100RS at the same price when unloaded by Fry's in Feb of '02. Picked up an E-10 on closeout (see a pattern here?) in April of '03, and have since tried to limit myself to one body per 2 years. That let me pick up my E-300 -- not on fire sale :-( -- last spring. I passed on the two lens kit (not sure how well they were even out yet) to start right off with the 14-54. My budget blown, I picked up a Sigma 55-200 to cover the long end, and I'm still saving for the 50-200 or something similar. (Bigma? maybe, would have preferred the 80-400 OS).
Another site for D.C. locals to be aware of --- the DC Photogs Yahoo group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dcphotogs/
Mostly Canonites there with big bodies and big white lenses, and a few with Nikons but they're a friendly crew and generally unbiased (the founder started out with an Uzi at one point).
Not much discussion, but every couple months or so we try to have a group shoot somewhere around town, and sometimes not so around town.
