    Default Leica Digilux-3

Just back from a few days away and I see Leica has a Digilux 3 with 4/3 lens looks mighty similar to Panasonic L1 (DPReview has spec).

Sorry if there is a previous thread on this....

    basically, it is a re-badged L1 - which is a re-badged E-330, in my opinion.
And yea it has been reported else where. But Leica claims that they have used their own method of image enhancements... Or something like that.

Leica has to really rethink what they want to do in the digital era. Rebadging is really not the way to go...

But I do hope that they will really explot their knowledge in lenses and optics and join the 4/3 group to develop some serious lenses for the community of 4/3 users. Nothing beats a good prime for professional work. (Dream dream dream...)

With Leica branded lens caps costing thirty U.S. dollars, I think Leica is genetically incapable of producing affordable cameras themselves. If they accidentally created an affordable camera, they'd send it back for redesign so that it could survive being fired out of a cannon. Then they could charge $5000 for it. Rebadged stuff is the closest most of us are going to get to that red dot.

I think they perfectly well know what to do in the digital era. That's why they come with the M8 this Photokina. The M8 along with Leica's DMR are the spearheads for Leica in the digital era. I think Leica consider their four-thirds line as their consumer line.

I indeed think that is the best we can hope for from Leica. GIve us a whole bunch of 4/3 primes. But for now i looks like also in the lens department the aim more/also at the consumer like range; zooms with pretty small apertures.
come on Leica, give me a 12/2 and a 17/2

    I don't know if I could afford a Leica 12 F2 or 17 f2...
Sure it would be nice, but traditionally, very very expensive.
