    Default First Light

Sunrise, Kohala Coast, Big Island of Hawai'i

[edit: Although I've been registered to this site for a while, I am a relative newcomer here. In the past I've only used it for information gathering on new lenses, news of 4/3rds interest, etc... . I did just notice after posting that this isn't intended to be a forum of critique, but just for sharing, and unfortunately it doesn't look like the critique forum exists anymore. With this in mind, I'm certainly not opposed to opinions and/or honest feedback on any of my images, so please feel free to let me know how you feel about anything I post - that's why I'm posting here!] - thanks, Alex

I like the mood and the composition of your photo, nice POV and light.
    Thanks for sharing.

I miss the critique forum too Alex however I think that by posting a photo in this photo forum one should accept that viewers may give unasked advice on how to improve the photo you posted technically i.e. focus, white balance etc.

And if you want critique on the aesthetic qualities of your photo you can always ask, like you did.
    Regards,
    Henk

The extreme foreground composition of this photo makes it seem not of this earth. It'd make a good infra red photo if the sun was at your back!

Frustratingly, I often find I have to manually dig the url out of the sources to get a pbase link to load. Not sure if they don't like the referer or what.

Then again, I don't particularly appreciate the javascript image squisher either, and the hot link doesn't suffer that! (I downloaded the full res image whether I wanted to or not, so I might as well see it big.)

It is here though. I love it - I like long foregrounds.

Looks great! The Palmtrees all seem to lean a little to the left - is this because that is the way they are growing or is there a slight tilt to your photo?

(not showing for me but I found it)

Thank you all for your comments - strange that it doesn't seem to be available to everyone, so again here is the link...

shrinkpictures: It is true that the palm trees are all leaning slightly - this is how they are growing on the side of this hill, all towards the ocean.

Thank you Henk and I agree. I'll make sure to qualify each image I post so that everyone can feel free to comment honestly on how it makes them feel, or anything they may have done differently. Alex.

Very unusual. Great colors and light. I like the composition and the mood a lot.
You might enter this for this month's competition.
