I like your pp. As you say, maybe a bit too much contrast or sharpening (hard to tell with size). Okay, here goes (not the greatest photo but a good one to run a test):

its okay, there is a bit of landscape in the picture. I like the background in the auto level but i like the way you brought out the shark in yours. Have you tried to combine them (using layers)?

I agree, the autolevels image is really surprisingly good. I've found the feature rather useless before. I too would like to see that one and your version combined. Great work!

Thanks for moving the thread and sorry for mucking up the original thread. BTW, I would love to slip by on this one, but without thinking I also posted shots from my Oly 5050 (because that is what I ran the tests on using techniques I learned in a DVD on photoshop work). Sorry, I just saw the thoughts about post-processing and got too excited. At least I stayed in the gene pool.

I will humbly accept my demerits.

I will try that and, if I haven't been banned, will post the results. It will be a little while, I have to help my better half with her art for a little bit.....which means less photo time for me.

It is quite possible that your yahoo account does not allow hot linking or else the photos that you are trying to post may not be public as I get forbidden access when attempting to view the pictures when everything after .jpg is removed from the URL. It is understandable that you can view the pics because you are logged in to your yahoo account, but no one else can see them.

Check this site for further information.
