Default Not what I wanted to see

This is a spider that my daughter found in the backyard. She said it was large, ugly and bumpy. A close up showed the bumps to be its young, and that I can expect a bumper crop of Wolf Spiders this year.

Why wouldn't you want to see them? They're not poisonous, are they? I'd sure rather see them than a bumper crop of flies and other noxious bugs.
We have huge spiders here in Japan that run across the walls and catch cockroaches. My wife is terrified of them, but I always appreciate their hard work.

Wow!! Cool spider! Good photo the second one - shows the small ones nicely.

Great to have a close-focusing lens at hand when daugthers come in with such critters but... I prefer them outside.

    Thanks for sharing.

Wolf Spiders can grow quite large (3-4 inches), big enough you don't need a macro lens. I just don't like any bug so big that I might have to fight it for my lunch.

Very interesting shots Gerry, they will catch a lot of flies and bugs in your garden when grown up. Thanks for sharing.

Very well shot, Gerry and I sure was happy that it did not jump of my screen.

Just a couple of note to go with the pictures,
    I used a E330, OM 50mm f1.8 (f8), Vivitar 2X macro converter, V.V. focus screen, on-board flash.

The Wolf spider lives in burrows, no web, hunts by running down it prey (these guys can move) . This is where they get their name from, as they hunt like wolf's. In my yard it is the crickets on the menu I would think.
