    Default Hot Shoe Covers

    http://zuiko.com/index_016.htm

A great place for hot shoe covers (generic) and for other Olympus needs. I came across them a while a go and I have noticed a few people needing this item so I thought I would pass it along. A nice group of people.

I'm assuming you bought the $0.99 universal hot shoe cover? I'll probably buy a few if the shipping isn't outrageous...

    Thanks for the find.

I emailed them and apparently they take check only (no paypal), mailed to a local address in NY, and shipping is $2 flat rate for these covers. I think I'll get a few.

A little FYI. If it matters, the little inserts have the name Olympus embossed on them. Even the covers that came with my E-510 are void of any name.

Default Re: Hot Shoe Covers-Make your own

Made mine using the plastic from one of those Radio Shack "Project Boxes".
The black plastic is soft and easy to cut with snips. I cut out several rough cut pieces and then sanded the sides down for an exact fit.

    Some notes:

    1. When you do the final sanding for the exact fit, you can make one end slightly bigger for a progressively tighter fit as you slide the cover in.

    2. Keep the sanding dust and your camera apart.

    3. Since the plastic is soft you can get the right size by using a knife, razor blade, rubbing the edges on concrete...etc. In other words, no fancy tools are needed.

    4. You could make a dozen from a small box.

    5. I've also heard that pieces of an old credit card will work as well.

    6. Boxes run from $1 and up depending on the size. I used an old one that I had lying around.
