Default Going backwards- using E10. A few questions.

Friend loaned me an E10 to play with. Fun camera. Its speed writing to card is reteaching patience. scanned the IB quickly and have a few questions.
    1. Does camera have magnified liveview feature like E410? The 7X and 10X are great for macro.
    2. Camera has a FL 36 flash. Does this work ttl with the camera? Doesn't seem to work like it does with E300. Flash is missing IB. Will have to see if it can be downloaded.

    Hi barondla,

I used to have an E-10 and a couple of E-20's.

1 - The E-10 has a crude live view mode that is very slow and not very bright. I don't remember it having any kind of magnification feature. It was never good enough to use for focusing.

2 - The FL-36 flash came out long after the E-10 and E-20 cameras had been discontinued so I wouldn't expect it to support the older cameras. You'll have to either test it to see if TTL will work or you'll have to contact Olympus Tech Support and ask them.

The flashes that do support the E-10 are the FL-20 and FL-40.
    Best regards, FL

Thanks for the answers Firstlight. The E10 is rather slow and in many ways crude compared to cameras today. It is capable of nice pics and was free for the trying so why not? Always something to learn. Didn't think the FL36 was the right flash. Unfortunately, when the friend bought the flash from a camera store, he was told it was. Didn't work well for him either so he went back. They still claimed it was the flash for the E10. So he has gone a few years thinking he doesn't know how to work the setup. A shame. I will probably buy the flash from him and sell the E10 to another friends child for his first digital camera.
    thanks
