Very nice, Luc. It looks good in B&W.

I agree, quite nice. There was a disturbing element with the color version?
    Good shooting,

Thx guys, i cant recall exacly if it was color or B&W cause it was taken in summer 2006 but i believe it was more B&W.

Really pretty, and the frame suits it. I also like the monochrome. Did you use two exposures to avoid blowing out the moon, or just one?

It reminds me of a harbor shot I took that is not nearly as nice, but maybe I'll clean it up and post it anyway.

Hi Julie, i took one shot of the harbor with the moon just a bit outside of the frame then took a shot of the full moon alone to avoid overexposure and moon corona. I then cut out the moon in photoshop and place it just a bit lower to where its normally suppose to be. Because of the large moon reflection on the water, one really cant tell the moon is lower. I suggest you take a very good image of a full moon alone and place it on any picture you want. Very useful when its not exactly the full moon but have a very nice scenic night view. One could actually call this method cheating but i personally call it improving and making the best out of a not so good situation. You can even take that full moon to use it on some day light images.

Thx for commenting and hope you have fun like i did with this one.

Thanks for the description of your method, Luc. I have never done it that way (taking shots of the moon for "stock" usage), but it is something I have been meaning to get around to. I think it's fun to try to get good exposure in one shot without special PP, but I have no objection to photoshopping, and I wouldn't think less of an image that was achieved that way. I do a lot of cloning on my own images to clean up the background.

There is a structure in town I have been wanting to shoot with the full moon over it, but the angle and time of night are right only once or twice a year. Maybe I'll give up waiting and do it your way.

Besides exposure, DOF is a good reason to paste together shots like this. I have tried to shoot birds against a full moon during daylight, but at long focal lengths, the DOF is always to narrow to get both the bird and moon in focus.
