    Default The Strangler

    This is a strangler fig that started life as a seed in the branches of another tree where it germinated. Over time the aerial roots reached the ground and the fig then grew rampantly until it strangled its host. The tree fell sideways and was propped up by another tree giving rise to this curtain of roots. This is a stitched image of 15 shots.

    An impressive shot. You've got stitching images down to a science.
    Good shooting,

    That is incredible and chilling, like something out of a horror movie.

    With all the straight lines, it looks like a difficult image to stitch. Great job, Bill. I never would have known if you hadn't told us.

    Beautiful image Bill, I would have thought it was a single pic.

    This is a stitched mosaic of 15 shots (5 rows of 3), The original is 5135x4401 px or 22.6Mp. At 300dpi it will print at 17"x14.7". The jpg is 21.6MB.

    The reason for stitching as a mosaic is two-fold:
    (a) It allows a greater FOV from a close point (super wide angle);
    (b) It provides greater resolution and detail (big prints).

    Here is a 100% crop of the root curtain.
