    Default Under Power

A little sailboat making for Elliot Bay at the mouth of the Duwamish River. The sailboat is dwarfed by the surrounding landscape. The sky, the light on the buildings and the cranes, all the visual evidence of a working port. The aesthetic treatment is more classic than modern.

Very nice Clay, I'd like to see more landscapes from you. The sky pops and i'm drawn into the building. The sailboat seems overwhelmed by the surroundings.

A nice image. Interesting that you chose to center on the theme of the sailboat, which is visually almost insignificant to the total image of a working harbor.
    Good shooting,

    Thank you Bob & Craig,

If I seem to have preoccupation with industrial subjects that is just a reflection of where I live. I just shoot what is available. Stuff I can drive to in less than a half hour. This shot is kind of ironic because it makes one of ugliest places in the Seattle, the lower Duwamish river, look like a picture post card.

    thanks for leaving a comment,

Cool Clay. You nailed the sky really well and I like all the neat and somewhat contrasting stuff in the pic.

    Thank you Garry,

The sky was cooperating all that was required of me was to not blow out the highlights. There are some days when the light is so good you can just point the camera at almost anything and it will look fine. This was one of those days.
