    Default Milky Way Panorama

Another attempt at the Milky Way.

This time a stitch of 4 frames using Autopano, covering horizon to horizon.
The Milky Way is a bit low in the sky for me now, hence some shadow from trees on the bottom and edges of the frame.
Note, each of the 4 frames is itself a stack of 11 separate images at 60 seconds and 200 ISO. This stacking is done to improve the signal/noise ratio of those 4 frames.

E-500 with 11-22mm lens at 11mm, basic tracking, and the camera on remote control from Olympus Studio using the Time Lapse feature. (so that I don't have to hang around outside in the cold).

I wish I could see it like this here with the naked eye Alex, it's been a long time since that was possible. Thanks for the beautiful night sky images in this forum, I appreciate the effort and work you put into it.
    Regards,
    Henk

Very nice. Are you selling any of your work?

    Thanks for the comments, all.

HWL, I use DeepSkyStacker for a stacking program, it's intuitively easy to use, especially for DSLR RAW images, and its a free program too.

Henk, I guess I really don't appreciate the dark skies here, compared with other parts of the world. Never had to think about it before.

And Ann, no I haven't sold any images yet. I have a couple in an astronomy text for NZ schools being published this month, but that was just for fame and not fortune.

    Cheers,
    Alec
