Today Olympus Japan released the firmware version 1.1 for this lens which stabilized exposure precision.

Am I able to upgrade firmware through the Panasonic L1 body?

I don't think that there is any way that I know of.
IT would be a good question for me to ask thursday though.

I received mine yesterday (70-300mm). Didn't really get a chance to try it out except in the house. Took some long shots of the kids with the flash, and tried out a couple macro shots. I can see where it will search for focus in low light situations, especially while fully extended. However the picture quality appears to be excellent. I don't think it will be very good for lets say indoor soccer.
Maybe this weekend I can get out and really try it, but we are having a major snow storm at the moment.

I took my 70-300 in to the local camera shop to upload the new firmware, which they did on an e-3. I peeked through the viewfinder and did a little focus testing of this lens with the e-3 and it locked on within tenths of a second, even with the zoom fully extended. I think that this lens used with the e-3 will be very good for indoor soccer games. It does hunt in low light on my L1.

    Smile Re: 70-300mm First Impressions

Greetings. My first post here, as I just registered, but have been reading the forums for a long time.

The 70-300 has been a wonderful lens for me. Of course I'd like to have the 50-200 SWF but the budget will have to wait for a while for that. In the mean time I have given the 70-300 a work out and have posted a lot of images on my pBase site. http://www.pbase.com/brdavid/70300_full_size is a collection of images from the 70-300 with either the E510 or E3. No post processing because I had a bunch of requests for full size images straight from the camera from other folks. There are PP images elsewhere on the same site.

I really like the lens, second only to my 12-60 on the E3.

Just thought I would share and now that I finally got around to registering will be stopping by much more often. Lots of good info here without the "squabbles" of some other forums.

    - David.

    hi David,

I saw your post on "that" other forum. Very very nice images.
I'd like to have the 70-300 as well, but so far, it's sold out overhere.
